In cooperation with Radiocoms, Entel secured one of Europe’s largest tenders to supply the UK Fire Services with their portable transceivers, beating off stiff competition from other major manufacturers. The tender was issued by FIREBUY, an independent central procurement company set up to consolidate and increase buying power for the UK’s Fire and Rescue Services.
Whilst other major manufacturers, desperate to win this prestigious business, tendered directly to the fire brigade, Entel focused on winning this business through Radiocoms, one of our authorised dealerships. All dealers that approached Entel were given the same pricing structure and support.
Our HT Series was one of the few transceivers to be put forward for final consideration after many months of trials and testing by the brigades. The submersible characteristics of the HT Series were considered to be one of the most important features, in view of the potentially wet environment they would be used in. Other key features were the Military Standard construction, and the long 14 hour duty cycle powered by the Lithium-Ion battery pack.
The delivery schedule is based on a six month roll-out to nationwide delivery points, with an estimated volume of up to 14,000 portables. To furnish this rolling order, and meet the demanding deadlines, it was imperative that Entel planned strategically in order to supply the FIREBUY orders without impacting on Entel’s forecasted month–to-month business. Mike Jamieson, Entel’s Purchasing Manager comments: “Working closely with our Production Manager at the factory we were able to optimise production schedules in order to meet the extra capacity needed.”
