Drydocks World-Dubai selects Entel’s DX Series DMR digital radios for upgrade
From its 200-hectare site in Dubai, Drydocks World’s mission is to become the global leader and destination of choice for ship repair, conversion, new building, rigs and maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) projects.
Several years ago, following extensive trials of Entel, Kenwood, HYT and Motorola radios, Drydocks World selected Entel’s HT Series analogue radios to meet its communications needs. Due to the HT radio’s success, when Drydocks World wanted to upgrade to digital, they had no second thoughts in selecting the latest Entel DX Series DMR digital radios.
The conditions in which Drydocks World operates require an especially robust radio application, with temperatures typically in the range of 45-50°C and frequent exposure to severe rainstorms. Due to the heavy-duty nature of shipbuilding and repair, the radios are not treated lightly and endure regular knocks and bangs.
Coverage of the site is quite challenging due to the size and large metal structures; however, the durable DX Series radio handles this easily.
Entel dealer Radio Holland, which has extensive experience with Entel’s DX radios, knew they would be the ideal solution for Drydocks World.
Salesh from Radio Holland explains: “The DX’s market-leading IP68 submersibility rating, compact size and very loud audio are essential for the noisy shipping environment and these features were particularly appealing to the client.”
Steve Mulka, Entel’s Product Manager, adds: “Once again, the DX series radios outperformed those almost twice their size and at a very competitive price point.
