Entel’s DN495 E-PoC radios provide best-in-class solution to the University of Exeter
With its Streatham and St Luke’s Campuses in Exeter and Penryn Campus 90 miles away in Falmouth, the University of Exeter needed a secure and reliable communication system whilst on-site and when traveling between the campuses.
A competitive tender was organised which pitched Entel and its dealer PCE Technology against the best companies and products available on the market. The university’s key criteria were to obtain a central control point to manage the team, enhance safety, communications and a provide cost-effective coverage on-site and whilst travelling between sites.
The successful bidder also needed to ensure users’ existing rugged Android devices could interoperate with the new radio system whilst also providing advanced safety features.
Following extensive trials of multiple systems, including DMR Digital and other leading PoC radio systems, the university selected Entel’s E-PoC system based on the following:
- The compact and rugged DN495 is a winner with university staff, providing outstanding audio quality and volume, essential when working in noisy environments.
- The advanced safety features are managed from the central Dispatcher, but this does not preclude users from setting their own safety features as their needs change throughout the day.
- Entel’s E-PoC solution and DN495 radios provide unrivalled coverage across all campuses and, via GPS, report users’ exact locations for management purposes and in case of an emergency.
- Entel’s E-PoC Android application was installed on the users’ existing rugged Android devices, ensuring the minimum outlay and the number of devices to carry.
Speaking after the successful installation, PCE Technology spokesperson, Kerry OFarrell said:
“Having considered various options for the University of Exeter, we selected Entel’s DN495 E-PoC system for its excellent performance and features, combined with attractive low up-front and ongoing costs. We are pleased we selected the winning solution and won’t hesitate in offering Entel products to our clients in the future.”
Entel’s Global Product Manager, Steve Mulka, was equally upbeat:
“Not only is our E-PoC solution advanced, robust and extremely high performance, but it is also totally scalable to fit any customer’s changing needs, especially as they grow. E-PoC with DN495 radios and Entel’s EU roaming, dual profile, high redundancy SIMs offer coverage across most of Europe and further afield. Even on an educational trip abroad, staff can contact the university at the touch of a button.”
