Gulf's 2nd biggest oil field chooses Entel
One of the Middle East's largest oil exploration companies, based in the United Arab Emirates, has chosen the Entel HT800 series radios for its off-shore oil exploration. Supplied in 2009 by Safeer Integrated Services, a dedicated specialist provider of high quality communicatoins systems to the Middle Eastern market, the Zakum Development Company (ZADCO) opted for the Entel HT800 intrinsically safe portables which matched their exacting criteria.
In fact, this was a repeat order, ZADCO being already familiar with the Entel HT800s which have a proven track record with the company, which was set up in 1977 to exploit the technically challenging Upper Zakum oil field - the 2nd largest in the Gulf and the 4th largest in the world. The radios have to be intrinsically safe and highly spec'd to cope with the demanding and sometimes inhospitable conditions encountered at sea. Many of the operators using them need reliable two-way communications in hazardous areas whilst using compressed air breathing apparatus.
The Entel HT800 impressed with its unique IP68 submersibility, which means it is one of the most corrosion resistant radios in the marketplace, able to resist moisture ingress at a depth of 5 meters for 1 hour. Its closest competitors are only IP67 submersible - 1 metre for 30 minutes. Entel radios are constructed around a metal die-cast chassis to Military-Standard 810C/D/E & F making them robust and able to withstand the rigours of offshore oil exploration. The HT800 radios share the same proven construction pedigree as the intrinsically safe Entel HT900 ATEX series widely used in Britain's North Sea oil industry.
