Italy's National Fire Corps adopts bespoke Entel radios
The Italian fire brigades' governing body, the National Fire Corps, has taken delivery of its first firmware-customised, advanced signalling Entel HT715 and HT785 radios, after a rigorous selection and development process. The Corpo Nazionale dei Vigili del Fuoco (CNVVF) had complex scanning and selcall requirements, together with specific functionality they wanted assigned to programmable keys. It operates its own radio network and has 35,000 operational units across the whole of Italy.
Together with the help and input of authorised Italian dealership, Antares Elettronica, Entel's dedicated UK-based software team was able to develop the bespoke software required, thanks to the responsiveness and flexibility for which Entel is increasingly being recognised. Two other major brands were also considered but were unable to offer the necessary bespoke services within the necessary timeframes and available budget.
Steve Mulka, Entel's Global Product Manager, said of the new contract: "The Italian fire brigades' technical requirements presented us with certain challenges, but Entel has an excellent track record in working collaboratively with dealers and their clients, not only to meet end-user requirements, but also exceed them. The CNVVF is so impressed with their modified HT715 mid-band and HT785 UHF portables that they will now be rolled-out across the Italian city fire services nationally".
This is just the latest major fire services contract that an authorised dealership has successfully landed by offering Entel radios. In addition to the reliability and flexibility of the firmware's configuration, the CNVVF appreciated the tough, commercial grade construction of the portables, as well as, crucially, their superior IP68 submersibility rating. A full range of accessories can be supplied for these radios, which can also interface with various breathing apparatus. ATEX variants are also available.
