Vietnamese oil giant opts for Entel HT844 ATEX portables
Via dealership Two–Two–Eight, an authorised dealer in Vietnam, Entel has made a major breakthrough in supplying the Vietnamese oil industry, traditionally more inclined to use products and services from the former Soviet Union, now the Russian Federation. The HT844 intrinsically safe VHF marine radio is to be used on vessels servicing the rigs and transporting crude oil in the South China Sea.
Over the last 30 years, Vietnam has developed a major off–shore oil industry. The company purchasing the HT844 radios, Vietsovpetro, now provides the Vietnamese state with almost a quarter of its revenue, from its 3 major oilfields: White Tiger, Dragon and Big Bear, ranking it the third largest producer and exporter of oil and gas in south–east Asia.
Being such a key player in the Vietnamese economy, makes this oil giant acutely aware of its responsibilities to safety and the environment, on land and especially at sea. Therefore, no corners could be cut when it comes to ensuring that their first line of defence – reliable two–way communications – met the highest international standards, withstanding the rigours of the marine environment, day in, day out.
In trials, Entel’s HT844 radios soon emerged as front–runners compared to competitor models, on account of their overall build quality and their superior IP68 rating (5 meters' depth for up to 1 hour). The Lithium–Ion battery technology was also seen as a bonus. This all ensures that the radios can provide many years of reliable service, guaranteeing the safety of workers, ships and off–shore oil and gas rigs alike.
