Egyptec Communications, a Cairo–based dealership, has won the contract to supply Entel portables into Cairo Airport, which is operated by the Egyptian Holding Company for Airports and Air Navigation (EHCAAN). By transforming Cairo into the hub of the region’s passenger and cargo traffic, the capital city’s main airport has seen a three–fold expansion in recent years, with projected air traffic expected to grow 25% or more by 2012.
Such a prestigious contract was hotly contested by dealers offering other leading brands, as it was stipulated that only brands from European, Japanese or American suppliers would be considered for such important, high–profile national infrastructure. In the end, the Entel HX425 selcall VHF model won out, chosen for its compact size, durability, ease of use and operational flexibility.
Eqyptec is confident that with a third terminal being constructed, further Entel radios will be required for this site as the airport’s operations continue to modernise and expand.
