A leading oil contractor has chosen Entel’s HT544 IECEx approved marine VHF radios to service the world’s second largest offshore oil platform installation vessel. Saipem S.p.A has purchased a complete set of speaker microphones and spare batteries along with the radios for the S7000 crane vessel as part of its ongoing commitment to the health and safety of its staff.
The semi-submersible crane and pipelaying vessel uses two large, fully revolving cranes to install oil production platforms and supporting structures. Its operations including pipelaying in depths of more than 2,000 meters, and heavy lifting operations of up to 14,000 tonnes, so reliable and durable communication equipment is vital at every stage of the process.
Saipem, a world leader in the oil and gas contracting services industry and a subsidiary of ENI, needed intrinsically safe portables, although they did not necessarily need ATEX. Entel recommended its IECEx approved HT500 series, which are ideal radios for the unpredictable and challenging conditions that are often faced at sea. The HT Series have earned a reputation of being one of the most robust and durable marine portables on the market, and their exceptionally loud audio ensures that users can always make themselves heard, no matter what background noises they are operating with.
Just another example of how Entel radios are perfect for even the toughest working conditions.
