Before you begin: Please watch the instructional video for guidance. You’ll find links to resources mentioned in the video below.

Instructions

Check if your radio requires this firmware update:

1. Attach the CNB950EV2 secondary battery and power on your radio.
2. If the Primary Battery Firmware is installed, you’ll see a confirmation message on the screen.

If your radio needs the update:

1. Locate the USB pen drive containing the firmware update (included with the CLB850FF spare battery).
2. If you don’t have the pen drive, download the firmware zip file [link]
3. Follow the instructions in the video tutorial.

Why do I need this firmware update?

DT844FF & DT885FF radios released before April 2024 require a firmware update for compatibility with the new CLB850FF battery.

Is the firmware update process difficult?

The update is designed to be straightforward. Even non-technical staff can perform it. Our support desk is available to assist you.

I purchased my radio after April 2024. Do I still need the update?

Radios shipped after this date likely have the firmware pre-installed. However, we strongly recommend checking before deployment on the vessel.

Can I use the CLB850FF battery with DT944FF & DT985FF IIC radios?

No, the CLB850FF battery is not compatible with, or approved for use with DT944FF & DT985FF radios.
