Entel’s award-winning marine radios have long been used by commercial shipping fleets worldwide, but until now we were unable to offer GMDSS radios often requested by those already using our other marine radios at sea. Now we are pleased to announce the launch of our MED certified GMDSS range of radios, all of which carry the essential Wheel Mark and comply with IMO regulations.

These radios can come with or without a high–visibility LCD screen and uniquely – intrinsically safe variants will follow shortly (both ATEX and USTC certification is available), for those operating portable radios in hazardous environments. As it is mandatory for vessels carrying hazardous cargoes to use intrinsically safe radios, we believe that their GMDSS radios should also comply with safety requirements.

The commercial grade construction actually exceeds the requirements stipulated by the MED and like all of Entel’s HT series radios, these GMDSS radios are all uniquely IP68 submersible (5 meters’ submersion for 1 hour).

Whichever GMDSS variant you choose, it comes in one of two packages. The basic Package 1 consists of the radio with primary battery only, while the more inclusive Package 2 comprises the same plus secondary battery and trickle charger. Taken together with the available variants and options outlined above, this competitively priced versatility means that whatever the requirement, Entel’s new GMDSS portables have got it covered.
