With its long-established commercial pedigree, the leisure-orientated HT20 marine handheld radio was always going to be a winner. Now, in its most comprehensive and wide-ranging comparison tests yet, the respected seafarers’ magazine Motor Boat & Yachting Monthly has cemented this radio’s reputation by awarding the Entel HT20 its coveted 5-Star Rating – the only hand portable among nine leading models to attain it.
All nine radios were tested on the sea, in identical conditions, against a rigorous set of safety-based criteria, including reliability, distance covered, ease of use, and audio clarity. In all these areas, the British-designed HT20 excelled, noted particularly for its outstanding audio volume and clarity, which was as loud and strong at the maximum distance covered, as at the shortest. The whopping 18 hours’ talk time delivered by the 2000 mAh lithium-ion battery also impressed.
Price was also a key factor in their verdict, the Entel HT20 comfortably beating its peers – in spite of out-performing them in the sea trials.
For the purposes of the test, build quality was not high up on the assessors’ list, but they couldn’t help but comment on the “no-nonsense design and rugged, weighty construction” of the IP67-rated submersible HT20, which also offers an extensive range of audio accessories quickly and solidly attached via its heavy-duty multi pin connector.
How reassuring to know, that in these independently assessed, critical life-saving scenarios, the performance of the Entel HT20 was found to be outstanding, while still offering best value for money in its class.
