Keeping the coast of Korea safe with the Entel HT644.

With nearly 300 vessels in operation, the Korean Coastguard (KCG) has selected Entel’s HT644 submersible marine radio as the product of choice to help fulfil its responsibilities around the Korean coastline.

The KCG has its headquarters in Incheon, and has hundreds of smaller operating stations along the coastline of the Korean Peninsula. It operates 4 classes of heavy vessels (over 1000 tons), 3 classes of medium vessels (over 250 tons), and 3 classes of light vessels (speedboats over 30 tons), as well as several different types of special purpose watercraft.

The KCG’s responsibilities are varied including protecting life and property at sea, keeping maritime peace and security, surveillance and supporting the removal of marine pollution, responding to international maritime crime, and maritime traffic safety management.

The KCG were looking for a dependable, high performance, commercial grade portable and the HT644 met all of these requirements. After careful lengthy trials and comparison with a number of competitor’s brands, it was the HT644’s rugged design and crystal clear audio that was favoured against the competition. The KCG were also highly impressed with the level of customer support on offer locally from Entel Korea.
