In 2015, Entel was selected to become a supplier of professional radio equipment to Statoil, one of the largest offshore companies in the Norwegian oil and gas industry.
Due to the varied nature of the work that Statoil undertake, which includes international exploration, the monitoring of offshore pipelines, and the removal of decommissioned platforms, they not only required a radio that was robust and reliable but also one that was able to withstand harsh day to day rigours of an offshore environment.
After working with our dealer Holund Elektronik AS, Statoil chose the Entel HT983. The team at Statoil felt that this model addressed their requirements perfectly and demonstrated outstanding performance during radio trials.
Entel’s HT900 series is ATEX IIC T4 certified, which means that it is suitable for use in hazardous environments. In addition to this, the HT900 series is also submersible with an IP rating of 68; this means that the radios are fully submersible and protected against water corrosion – a feature which is essential when working in an offshore environment.
Entel’s unique and tailored software customisation also enabled Statoil to manage their 250 channels (which are used across 19 oil rigs) more efficiently, allowing for clearer, more effective communication.
